Young Europeans Bridging Facts Against Disinformation

Brif girls

BRIF is a European project that aims to work with young people in areas of socio-economic vulnerability, especially with young migrants and social workers from civil society, to identify, understand and combat disinformation, bias and hate speech.

To do this, we will work with civil society in Barcelona, Paris and Naples throughout 2024 to co-create educational materials and train social workers and young people to strengthen media literacy in their communities. This will culminate in a “challenge”, in which young participants will create and present content on what they have learned. Finally, an event will be held in the three cities that will reward the best content produced by the young participants in each city.

Media literacy to combat disinformation targeting young people

The BRIF project is a pioneer in giving tools to young people to understand and combat disinformation, prejudice and hate speech, with a focus on countering narratives which are based on distortions of their realities.

BRIF stands out for the fusion of media literacy and awareness-raising, aimed at empowering young people to, on the one hand, understand the media landscape, and on the other, become active agents to counter hate narratives.
